Age Verification

If your campaign has an age requirement, for example, if a subscriber must be 18 or older to participate in a sweepstakes, use the Age Verification component to collect the subscriber's date of birth to determine their age. Depending on their response, the mobile user will either be allowed to proceed with the campaign or will be excluded from the campaign.

To add the Age Verification component from the campaign page:

  1. Select Add Component.

  2. Select Age Verification from the dropdown list, and then select OK.

  3. If components have already been added to the campaign, select the placement of the new component in the list on the right.

    The component is added to the list.

    Note: To rearrange the order in which messages are sent by your campaign, select a component and drag it to a new position in the list.

  4. Select the component name to open the form.

  5. Enter the Welcome message, asking the user to respond with their date of birth in the required format.

    To add a message, select SMS (plain text message), MMS (multimedia message, including images, videos and audio), RCS for each message, and then enter your message in the text box. For more information on RCS messaging, see Using Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging in Waterfall.

    Note: MMS messaging is available in the United States and Canada only.

  6. To specify the valid age requirement, enter the age in the Valid Age field or select the up and down arrows to display the valid age, and then select Over or Under from the dropdown list.

  7. Select the metadata field to store the user's date of birth. The field must be a date field.

  8. Enter the Invalid format message, encouraging the user to check their response and reply again with a valid date of birth in the specified format, with no punctuation.

  9. If the user's date of birth disqualifies them from the conversation, you can either forward the user to another campaign or end the conversation.

    • To forward the user to another campaign, select Forward to Campaign and then select the campaign from the dropdown list. When Waterfall receives a disqualifying date of birth, the interaction automatically moves on to the campaign you select.

    • To end the conversation, select Termination Text and then enter the Not-of-age message.

  10. When you are done, select Save Campaign.

  11. You can continue adding components or return to the Campaign table:

    • To continue adding components, see Adding components.

    • To return to the Campaigns table, select Campaigns from the Campaigns menu.
