Validation

Use the Validation component to set up conditional statements that target actions based on subscription status or one or more metadata values in the user profile.

To add the Validation component from the campaign page:

  1. Select Add Component.

  2. Select Validation from the dropdown list, and then select OK.

  3. If components have already been added to the campaign, select the placement of the new component in the list on the right.

    The component is added to the list.

  4. Note: To rearrange the order in which messages are sent by your campaign, select a component and drag it to a new position in the list.

  5. Select the component name to open the form.

    You will add one or more conditional statements that will define the subscribers who qualify to receive a targeted message or move on to another component or campaign.

  6. First, specify whether the subscriber must match any of the conditions or all of the conditions.

    • Select Any to broaden the number of qualifying subscribers.

    • Select All to narrow the number of qualifying subscribers.

  7. To add a conditional statement, select one of the following operators and then select the parameters for selecting subscribers.

    Tip: To quickly select an option in a drop-down list, start typing its name and Waterfall will display matching options.

    Operator Parameters
    is on Select a list that subscribers must match.
    is not on Select a list that subscribers must not match.
    contains Select a metadata field, and then enter a value that the subscriber's profile must match.
    does not contain Select a metadata field, and then enter a value that the subscriber's profile must not match.
    contains value for Select a metadata field. If the field contains any value, then the subscriber will match.
    does not contain value for Select a metadata field. If the field is empty and does not contains any value, then the subscriber will match.
  8. Select Add condition to continue adding conditional statements until you have defined the subscribers to match. The relationship of the conditional statements is determined by your selection to match any or all conditions.

  9. In the then section, select one of the following actions for all subscribers who match the condition set:

    • Select the Send Message checkbox and enter a message.

      To add a message, select SMS (plain text message), MMS (multimedia message, including images, videos and audio), RCS, and then enter your message in the text box. For more information on RCS messaging, see Using Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging in Waterfall.

      Note: MMS messaging is available in the United States and Canada only.

    • To forward the user to another campaign, select Forward to Campaign from the dropdown list and then select the campaign from the adjacent dropdown list.

    • To move the user on to the next component in the campaign, select Deliv. Next Component from the dropdown list.

    • To end the campaign, select End Campaign from the dropdown list.

  10. In the else section, select one of the following actions for all subscribers who do not match the condition set:

    • Send Message: Select the Send Message checkbox and enter a message.

    • To forward the user to another campaign, select Forward to Campaign from the drop-down list and then select the campaign from the adjacent dropdown list.

    • To move the user on to the next component in the campaign, select Deliv. Next Component from the dropdown list.

    • To end the campaign, select End Campaign from the dropdown list.

  11. When you are done, select Save Campaign.

  12. You can continue adding components or return to the Campaign table:

    • To continue adding components, see Adding components.

    • To return to the Campaigns table, select Campaigns from the Campaigns menu.
